AVON RACE FOR RESEARCH
Avon race for research is a non-profit event established by the Breast Cancer Institute of
Australia to support the national breast cancer research programs of the Australian New
Zealand Breast Cancer Trials Group. This 5km fun run/walk is for serious athletes as well as
for beginners and families, and it takes place on the picturesque Newcastle Foreshore,
NSW.
The 2009 Avon race for research will be held on Sunday 25 October. It is a fun day for the
entire community and gives individuals the chance to become actively involved in increasing
awareness of breast cancer and raising funds for breast cancer research.
Since the inaugural race for research in 1996, this event has raised more than $440,000 for
vital research to identify safe and effective treatments for every woman diagnosed with
breast cancer and prevention strategies for all those at risk.
Quest on Bourke is a valued sponsor of the Avon race for research, donating
accommodation packages to be used as prizes for the event.
